Speech aggression in Russian and Czech media discourse

Verbal aggression appears more and more in the discourse of mass media to affect and manipulate consciousness of their receiver (such as promoting a biased point of view). Verbal aggression can be defined as an act of communication which is oriented on forming the emotional and mental state of a reader (mostly negative one). The thesis deals with the analysis of linguistic, functional and pragmatic characteristics of verbal aggression in both Russian and Czech mass media. In the thesis are characterized the forms and means of verbal aggression in the media discourse. The term verbal aggression is specified and its individual types are characterized.
